In recent decades the MassJCL has helped to cultivate excellent certamen players, among whose ranks lie Dante Minutillo, Amol & Rahi Punjabi, and even Elizabeth Banks (who played Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games), as well as many, many other great students.
Since 2005, the MassJCL certamen team has accomplished:
- 16 consecutive years of finalists – since 2011, at least one of our teams has made it to the national finals
- 4 years of finalists in every division – 2013, 2017, 2020, 2022
- 35 total trophies across 22 years of convention
- 14 victories – 7 novice, 3 intermediate, and 4 advanced wins
- 14 runners-up – 6 novice, 5 intermediate, and 3 advanced runs
- 7 bronze trophies – 3 novice and 4 advanced plays
Our certamen coaches are seasoned educators with years of experience in teaching the Classics down their belt, and all of them are familiar with the NJCL certamen experience.
