Convention Announcement:
Dear MassJCL Members & Sponsors,
Registration for the MassJCL State Convention is now open, and we cordially invite you to join us for this year’s event at Barnstable High School. The convention will consist of an optional Pre-Convention Day on Friday, April 11th and the main Convention Day on Saturday, April 12th. Delegates have the option to attend on Friday and stay overnight at the Holiday Inn Hyannis, or just attend on Saturday.
All information about the convention including the tentative schedule and the registration link can be found here in the State Convention HUB.
We are excited to offer registration fees which have been reduced from last year’s amounts including a significantly reduced Early Bird rate for overnight student attendees who register by Friday, March 7th. In addition we are still offering the Paula Smith Fellowship which covers the full cost for any club sponsors who are attending their first convention.
We strongly encourage students to check in with their teachers before registering. This year we have rolled out our new registration system on a platform called Zeffy, which will provide a much more user friendly experience. Schools will still have the option for attendees to pay directly through the site, or to collect their own payments and send a check to MassJCL. An email to sponsors about the registration process will shortly follow.
Finally, thanks to your feedback after last year’s convention we are excited to highlight a few new features of this year’s convention:
- Smoother registration experience.
- Lower cost for student attendees.
- Clear deadlines and submission forms for Whole School Contests outlined in the Contest Booklet.
- Two State Trophies – Small Schools (15 or less members) & Large Schools (more than 15 members)
- Later start time & heartier options for dinner on Friday.
- Welcome Assembly on Friday.
- Iliad Performance by the Actor’s Shakespeare Project on Friday.
- Two food trucks during lunch rather than dinner. Pizza moved to dinner on Saturday.
Aside from these additions, we will maintain all the other events and activities that you loved from last year’s convention. We look forward to welcoming many of you to the Convention in a few months!
